CrossFit Kids at CSC

Move well. Build confidence. Have fun.

Children are built to move. CrossFit Kids at CSC is our dedicated programme for children aged 5–10, using age-appropriate exercise, games and challenges to help develop the physical skills that form the foundations of an active life.

Our sessions are fun and engaging, but they’re also planned, structured and professionally coached. We want children to leave having enjoyed themselves — while gradually becoming stronger, fitter, more coordinated and more confident in what their bodies can do.

Coaching standards parents canTrust

When you’re choosing an activity for your child, who is delivering it matters. Our CrossFit Kids sessions are delivered by appropriately Governing Body qualified coaches, with our youth coaching team Enhanced DBS cleared and Safeguarding trained. We take those standards seriously. Working with children requires more than knowing how to exercise. It requires an understanding of appropriate coaching, communication, supervision and the responsibilities that come with creating a safe and positive environment for young people.

Benefits of OurDesigned for Children Program

CrossFit Kids isn’t an adult CrossFit class with lighter weights. The programme is designed specifically for children aged 5–10, taking into account their physical, cognitive and social development. Sessions combine instruction and structured exercise with games, challenges and opportunities to explore movement. Children get the benefits of purposeful physical activity without losing the most important ingredient: It should be fun.

Build the foundations

Before children need to specialise, there is enormous value in simply becoming good at moving. CrossFit Kids exposes children to a broad range of fundamental movement patterns and physical challenges. They'll have opportunities to run, jump, throw, carry, squat, balance, climb, push, pull and change direction, developing a broad foundation of physical ability. These skills aren't just useful inside the gym. They can provide foundations for sport, recreation and an active life.

Develop strength appropriately

Strength training for children doesn't mean asking them to lift maximal weights. Our sessions use age-appropriate resistance and movement challenges to help children learn how to control their bodies and develop strength progressively. That might involve bodyweight movements, light external resistance, carrying objects or learning fundamental movement patterns. The emphasis is on movement quality, control and confidence - not chasing numbers.

Coordination, balance and body awareness

Physical literacy is about more than being strong or fast. Children benefit from learning how to control their bodies in different situations. CrossFit Kids develops balance, coordination, agility, accuracy and spatial awareness through varied movements, games and challenges. The broader their movement vocabulary becomes, the more options they have when encountering new sports and physical activities later.

Fitness without the treadmill

Children don't need to be told to spend an hour doing traditional cardio to improve their fitness. Running, games, relays, challenges and appropriately structured workouts provide opportunities to develop stamina and cardiovascular fitness in ways that keep children engaged. They're exercising. They just don't necessarily need to think of it that way.

Confidence through
capability

Learning to do something new can be powerful. A child who learns to jump onto something they previously thought was too high, lift something they once found difficult or complete a challenge they weren’t sure they could finish gets more than a physical benefit. They experience progress, achievement and growing confidence in their own capability. Our coaches create opportunities for children to challenge themselves appropriately and recognise those improvements.

Group training also creates opportunities to develop important behaviours beyond physical fitness. Children learn to listen to instructions, take turns, work alongside others.

Your child doesn’t need to already be sporty to join CrossFit Kids. Some children arrive with experience across several sports. Others may still be discovering whether physical activity is something they enjoy. Both are welcome.

One of the most valuable things we can help a child develop is the belief that being active is simply a normal and enjoyable part of life. Exercise doesn’t need to be punishment.

CrossFit Kids doesn’t require us to know which path they’ll take. Our job is to help give them a broad foundation of movement, fitness, confidence and physical capability that can support whichever activities they choose later.
