Newsletter - May 2017

May is almost over and in contrast to last month I am sitting here in 22 degrees rather than looking out at snow. The month has been great with lots of opportunity to get out in the sun and WOD outside, I am sure there will be more to come in the coming weeks. This month we welcome new members, new classes and as always lots of sweat. As always the members Facebook page offers all the up to the minute details but below is a snapshot of what's been happening at CSC


This months member of the month is Hayley Banford.

Hayley's attitude towards training and other members is always top notch. Hayley has been working extremely hard after a recent back injury and has come back with a fantastic positive attitude. She was sensible in her scaling options and movements and her hard work and diligence showing fantastic results.  From all the coaches at CSC we would like to congratulate you on all your efforts. Well done Hayley :)

CSC want to give a shout out to Dušan Grujić, Sarah Horsenail and Emma Wheatley who took part in the Rainhill trials on the 6th May and did us proud. Dusan finished 20th in his division with Sarah stealing 27th in her category and Emma finishing 32nd. Great effort guys and well done from all at CSC.

As we want as many people to take part in other events, please keep your eyes open for opportunities to participate and support some of the up coming events our members and coaches are taking part in.

September sees a few teams hitting Tribal clash on the 1st - 3rd September in Bantham south Devon. This promises to be a CSC road trip to remember. Tribal clash is an intense weekend for the teams involved but a great opportunity to spend time with the community supporting what we love. Click the image below for more details.

We also have a few members tackling Northwest Tough Mudder this year :). A majority of people are opting for the "Full" Mudder on Sunday 10th September which is 12 miles and 20+ obstacles and to quote the website "This course features some of the deepest, darkest mud and dense forest in all the UK". A few meeker members of the community will also be having a go at their first Mudder event and taking part in the "Half" Mudder. the half is only 5 miles and 13+ obstacles also on the Sunday 10th. With the ever increasing demand for our classes we are making a few changes to the timetable.

We are excited to be adding two new conditioning classes to our timetable.
Conditioning will now be available from the 5th June on

Tuesday & Thursday 17:30 - 18:30
Sundays 12:00 - 13:00

In order to accommodate the new classes we are moving the times of Gym jones slightly, Gym Jones will now be at 18:30 - 19:30 on Tuesday and Thursday. We will also be bringing in some new kit to help accommodate the extra classes so look out for new Slam Balls, Ab-Mats, Kettlebells etc.

It is also sad that due to small numbers we are temporarily removing the preschool CrossFit kids from our timetable on a Saturday. This isn't to say it will not return, so please continue to register your interest in this class and if the numbers look to increase we can look to bring it back.

This months Hero WOD is dedicated to Nicky Mason (26) Parachute regiment 2nd Battalion who died in an explosion in Afghanistan on 13/09/08, also dedicated to Jason Rawstron , W02 Gary O'Donnell and Justin Cupples who also died in the same month.
